About 11am we got on our bikes and it was already getting hot. It was a tough cycle in the heat to the other side of town to Hydropolis – a museum about water. It was in a part of the old Wroclaw water works so very appropriate.

Old Wroclaw Water Works
There was a water printer on the way in making designs in the water streaming from the roof.
There was a huge vortex at the start of the exhibition.

It was a very high tech museum with lots of audio visuals and using our phones as audio guides to play the number of the item and we were led along fluorescent blue channels in the floor.
There was a submarine that had gone to the bottom of the San Andreas fault – and mock ups of all the shockingly ugly things they saw down there.

There was a section on sea creatures.

There was a camouflage sea creature multimedia section with a new form of sea horses I had never seen which looks like a bit of coral.

Wroclaw had a sophisticated water system from the 1500s using hollowed out wooden logs as pipes.

It was renovated in the 1800s building the new water tower and buildings including the underground reservoir that Hydropolis is in.
There were around 35 different subjects.
Just after 3pm our brains were full and we were getting to the end of the presentations. We couldn’t see Sean or Lisa so Glenn and I thought they had gone up to the cafe to have something to eat. We went up there but they weren’t there. We had a very late lunch anyway. Sean and Lisa joined us and we left about 4.30pm.
It was now very hot at 33 degrees so we went for a swim at the local pool. It was packed but we found some space in the shade as everyone else wanted to be in the sun. I suppose that’s what happens when you don’t see sun for most of the year.
The water was lovely and cool and we had a couple of good floats around and in between read books and magazines on the grass.
When we finished it was already nearly 7pm and it was still hot. We got back on our bikes and cycled the short distance over the big suspension bridge back to the campsite.
We had a little rest before sharing 2 pizzas from the campsite and our salad for dinner.
It was too hot to cook inside.
It did cool down quickly though so it didn’t stop us from sleeping.
