We left Eastbridge campsite near Minsmere and drove up single lane roads with hedges having to reverse a couple of times.

There are roadworks and closed roads everywhere due to the new nuclear power station being constructed at Sizewell. There were plenty of protest signs everywhere on locals fences.
We at last got onto normal roads and arrived in Norwich. After doing a big shop for our week in a rented house in Cley next the Sea we went to Whitlingham Country Park to have a van lunch and a walk.
It’s a lovely spot on a lake. We first discovered the ruins from the grand country retreat of the Priors of Norwich Cathedral. It would have been the most impressive home in Whitlingham during its time.

We then had a good walk around the lake with Glenn counting a lot of birds including swans, coots and 3 types of geese.

We went past the canal on the other side of the lake.

We stood at the meeting point of three rivers: the Yare, Tas, and Wensum. This area was once considered sacred by prehistoric people.

Nearby, a wooden henge was discovered, which was thought to be aligned with the midwinter sunset.
We soon were back to the van and heading north to Cley next the Sea. We arrived there first out of everyone and found the large house up its own drive on a large piece of land – it looks very impressive.
We then started taking stuff in. Helen then arrived from Aylesbury and we had a catch up.

Glenn and I have a lovely sunny bedroom overlooking the sheep. Glenn is feeling very at home.

A short time later Georgina and Lech arrived – and we were all there!
We had a lovely dinner that George had cooked and we had a very chatty evening.
Glenn went out on the marshes early in the morning to check out the birds and made it out to the beach on the other side.

He snapped these near the house.

We all went to Wells Next the Sea and walked along the beach in brilliant sunshine. The tide goes out 1 mile and then comes rushing back in. There are sirens to warn walkers not to get cut off.

We returned through the forest.

We checked our Morston Quay on the way back – similarly flat. There are trips from here to see seals that are further out on a point.

We returned back to the house for Goan curry with salmon and dhal – my standard dishes.

We then played triominos – a new to me 3 sided dominos game – interesting and a little taxing.
