We got ready early for our 9am kayak down the Krutyn River. We launched off the beach at the Krutyn Piecek campsite and started our 12km trip to Ukta.

The river is very beautiful and peaceful. The water is very flat with little flow – giving us lots of reflections.
After 10 minutes we came to the water mill where we had to carry the kayaks around for around 100 metres.

When we got back in the water had a bit more flow for 200 metres so it was more exciting.
There was a nice cafe bar stop but we had just started so we kept going.

We saw the dog later on a kayak.

We continued down with lots of trees around us.

There were a lot of ducks and swans around.

We rafted up for a rest and a snack.

Then it was more open with lots of reeds on either side. There were paths through the reeds to the houses with pierogis advertised – but only open when it’s high season.

We then came to a very high observation tower. Only Glenn went up and got photos of us.

I realised my phone in my pocket had been dunked in the river but it is still working – but water has got into the cameras. It is now spending a few days in a bowl of rice.
We soon arrived in the town of Ukta which was our end point after 12km. Hubert came to pick us up and we loaded up the kayaks and got taken back to the campsite.
We got a picture of us with the shark there.

We had a quick lunch and then got on our bikes for a bike ride beside Lake Mamre.
Sean went right round the other side while we started on a shorter route down the near side of the lake. It was very beautiful with lots of reflections.

However the cycle path was of the usual Polish bike path standard – rutted with lots of big potholes, puddles, mud and sand – not good for heavy electric bikes. Lisa and I decided to turn round and take a shortcut back through the village.
We weren’t expecting to see Sean or Glenn for ages but Sean returned about 20 minutes later and Glenn after another 20 minutes. Sean had experienced very rough paths with them running out into nothing. Glenn also had a rough ride. But they had made it back. Glenn got a couple of good bird photos.

We then had dinner of burgers with everything including pineapple and then settled down for the night.
