We left at a reasonable time and wove through many country roads avoiding the M25 to get to the National Trust Winkworth Arboretum. We had lunch there and had a short walk through the trees before getting back on the trip. 

We soon arrived at Hove at Kate and Rob’s place. Lisa, Glenn’s sister and husband Sean were there – and we are travelling with them around Poland. Also Kate and Rob’s daughter Tamwyn with her 2 young boys was there for the weekend while husband Miles was at a wedding. 

We had a big welcome and after getting sorted out settled down on the deck with gin and tonic.

We had a good catch up on the last year’s happenings.

Glenn and I slept in the van and slept very well. 

Next morning Glenn and I went for a walk along the beach. It was nice and warm and the sea was totally flat. There were a lot of swimmers. There are also now many racket sports next to the beach including tennis, pickleball and padel.

Back at the house we had breakfast and then went to Shoreham with Lisa and Sean to collect Lisa’s new electric bike. We then went for a walk beside the houseboats on Shoreham harbour – all unique and very arty.

We walked back through the town abd found the ancient church of St Mary’s. It has green man symbols which are very old pagan nature symbols.

We also found where Captain Henry Roberts who travelled with Captain Cook had lived when he was on land.

We then drove back to Hove and went to the famous George Payne (GP) pub for lunch. It is Sean’s favourite lunch.

After having a great time we went back to the house to watch the Tour de France. Lisa and I cooked up a vegetable and halloumi bake while Glenn and Nye had a hot tub.

They then moved on to constructing a meccano car.

Aperol spritz I was the drink of the evening abd went well with the veggie bake. We went to bed early after that.
