We left Colditz camping at around 10am and got on the road to Poland. 

We went along many country roads and villages until we joined the freeway.

At the Polish border there was a bit of a queue going down to 1 lane but no bad stoppage. 

We joined up in a layby to have lunch.

The road was then not quite as good and soon we were on country roads again. It was very pretty countryside though. 

There were storm clouds on the horizon and when we arrived in Jelenia Gora there was a downpour. We found the campsite and I walked down the hill in the rain to reception to book in. We got 2 nice spots at the top of the hill. 

Once we were settled in and the rain had stopped we walked 10 minutes into town to check out the sights. First was the theatre with this woman sitting outside. 

The woman sitting at a table near the Cyprian Norwid Theatre is a bronze monument dedicated to Alina Obidniak, a legendary Polish theater director and actress. She has her scripts on the table and a spare chair to allow you to join her. 

Continuing on we found the main square with beautiful houses all around. 

The impressive town hall had Neptune’s fountain outside. 

We then found an old city wall tower that has been restored allowing us to go to the top for great views over the town.

We then were searching out the Basilica of St. Erasmus and St. Pancras. 

On the way we found an interesting art piece and an old tram now a tourist shop.

The basilica was very impressive with its rich decorations. 

Outside had old gravestones on the walls. 

I found the mayor who died of plague in 1625.

There were interesting street lamps – Lisa abd I decided they were a bit like Chucky the evil doll!

The sky was getting dark and there were drops of rain so we hurried back to the main square and found a good bar to stay dry in. We chose the some beers from the menu and chilled out.

After a couple of drinks we had to head back to the campsite to make a bbq dinner. 

Luckily the campsite is well set up with permanent bbq, sheltered eating area and camp kitchen. The girls chopped vegetables and the boys did the bbq so it all came together well. 

After doing dishes it was now 10.30pm – as usual. We are fitting a lot into our day so having late dinners. Oh well!
