We left York campsite and headed north towards Scotland. We did a quick shop on the edge of Newcastle and then continued into Scotland.

We turned off and weaved though the very narrow streets of historic Coldingham to get to the National Trust carpark for St Abbs Head. Luckily we didn’t meet anything bug coming the other way.

We only had a short time to walk there and back from the heads. We didn’t get all the way there but we got good views. Glenn saw lots of seabirds and a few chicks.

The town looks lovely so we hope to get back here another time and stay in the CL campsite right here. 

We then got back in the car and drove up the coast seeing a long way up the coast in the clear weather. We could see Bass Rock off North Berwick and a good view of Arthur Seat when approaching Edinburgh. 

We drove the last bit through Leith in Edinburgh to Ruth and Geoff’s. 

They welcomed us with a white port in the garden as it was sunny and warm – unusual for north of the border.

We had a good catch up on what’s been happening in the last year. 

Ruth had made her special venison casserole with chocolate and red currants – very delicious. It was served with Geoff’s newly grown potatoes dug up that morning. It was all excellent. I brought a Marks and Spencer Tiramisu and strawberries that was all polished off. 

We traded travel stories –   Ruth and Geoff have done a lot of travelling in Scandinavia. 

We managed to get to our nice comfortable bed in the attic room at a reasonable time.
