Nye had a special breakfast made by GG – his Gorgeous Grandmother.

We started off the day sorting out our new bikes. Lisa had her new electric bike and I bought Lisa’s old electric bike.
We were soon off on our cycling trip to Bramber 9 miles from Hove – mostly along cycle tracks. We started along the sea beside the working port. We then headed inland on some narrow bushy lanes to Bramber.

I enjoyed having the electric assist. There are different modes so you can put in as much effort as you would like. I mostly stayed on the lowest setting but did go up to the next one when the wind was string and into our face.

We arrived at Bramber – a small ancient English village.
We met up with Robyn, Tanwen, NYE and Elian who had driven there and already checked out the castle. We first went for lunch at the Castle Inn. Glenn and I enjoyed the Sunday roast – I had chicken, Glenn had cashew nut!

After everyone enjoying that we said goodbye to Tanwen and the boys as they were heading home.

We went to check out the very old castle built by the Norman’s in 1073 – probably after the battle of Hastings in 1066 -as shown on the Bayeux tapestry. Hastings is 46 miles away.
There is not much left now – mainly the old tower. There is still the moat. It must have been quite large as other bits were on the other side of the big flat area.

We then got back on our bikes and retraced our steps back to Hove.
We were quite tired after getting back. Glenn and I had a quick shower and gobbled down an icecream and then said our goodbyes – only for a few days for Lisa and Sean. We then drove to Canterbury where there is a motorhome aire/park and ride with a pub next to it. It was a pleasant trip with no traffic on a Sunday night.
The aire has a busy motorhome area but we chose to park in the huge almost empty carpark.

After getting organised we then headed to the Gate Inn just next door. We had a relaxed time snacking on a share plate of skewers and then went back to the van and to bed.
