We got up to a lovely morning with a very still glassy sea.

Nigg is just opposite where oil rigs are usually constructed and deconstructed. It’s now assembling turbines that will go in the sea.

After breakfast we packed up drove down the street to the very good coffee shop the Last Splash. It was set up by Australians who had moved from Australia to Cromarty. They saw the gap in the good coffee market and started roasting coffee and set up the cafe. 

We met up with the lovely Loren, Brendan and Gill.  Dom, who’s Mum is Loren, was working in the cafe.

It was a nice catch up with very good coffee – and we met the cafe owners Alison and Tony and had a good chat.

We then had to move on as we wanted to get near to Hadrians wall by tonight.

We drove down the A9 through the beautiful highlands – seeing some smoke again around Aviemore.  

We stopped for a van lunch at Blair Atholl in the House of Bruar carpark and saw many vans of people in waterproofs gear off to do some canyoning.

We then passed Perth and Stirling, seeing Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument.

It was very sunny as we were going through the borders.

We then crossed into England and found an off grid spot at Ullerbank near Talkin only 6km from Hadrians Wall. It’s got great views with only sheep as neighbours. There are no other vans – only a couple of cars dropped in to see the view.

We had our first smokeless bbq dinner – satay chicken skewers, Callums potatoes and zucchini followed by Callums blackcurrants – all quite healthy.  

We watched the end of the World Cup final and went to bed with the sheep.
