Glenn went out early to the birdwatching marshes area and got a lot of great photos.

After he came back 4 of us had a morning outing to Norfolk Tea Company, a cafe near the sea that makes many different teas.
It’s in a lovely setting where many dog walkers set out on walks from.
Glenn and I had Nelson’s smoky Earl grey which apparently contained gunpowder!
It didn’t taste like that – but not very smoky or Earl grey like either.
After lunch we then continued to Cley birdwatching area where Glenn had been spending a lot of his time.
We checked out the first bird hide and Lech continued to walk out to the sea shore ahead of us.

About 10 minutes later coming out of the bird hide we were shocked by a large fire in the bushes in the direction we were going.

George and Glenn continued to the sea shore to collect Lech but Helen and I decided it looked a bit dangerous and we went back to the outdoor cafe area of the visitors centre.

The fire got worse and 4 fire engines turned up. After 10 minutes the fire was out but smoke was still emanating.
Eventually the 3 intrepid walkers returned saying that the fire had been another 2 fields over.
However the road out was being blocked now and then by fire engines filling with water at the nearest hydrant.
We found out from a local that the small road to get round this is Old Woman’s Lane – apparently named as a ‘witch’ was hung there. Probably just an older woman who had annoyed someone!
We returned home and Glenn started the barbecue. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough heat so most had to be brought inside and cooked on the stove. It was still enjoyable though.
We couldn’t get the selected film to play so we watched the Golden Coast about the East coast of Scotland. I never knew it was called this after living there for 30 years – I’m sure it’s a made up name!
Kayaking in the sea caves near Arbroath was a new thing to me. It looks interesting but dangerous as the caves are filled with water when the tide comes in.
