Waddesdon Manor walk

We spent the first part of the day helping Helen get some admin done and get the wifi printer talking to devices – a hard job.

We then needed some fresh air so armed with our National trust memberships went to nearby Waddesdon Manor for a walk- still partly owned by the Rothschild family – a very rich family.

It’s very grand with large formal gardens, a fountain and sculptures in various places.

We came across the bird sanctuary where they are breeding rare birds – all very brightly coloured – but elusive. We found the rose garden with the plan – very complicated.

We walked back towards the car park seeing views down from the hill – still of the estate with the Slate House for artists built to fit into the countryside. The trees are changing colour quickly.

It’s quite a long walk down the hill to the carpark. I was glad we had got the bus up earlier.

We prepared dinner before we went out to the Aylesbury theatre- we were seeing a film of the National Theatre production Inter Alia with Rosamund Pike. We were having dinner afterwards when we got back.

The theatre production was excellent, particularly Rosamund Pike who talked and acted constantly for 2 hours. The play was very powerful about many topics including working women, bringing up children and consent / rape in the law.

We went back home to have a very good dinner of chicken tagine and apple crumble.

We then played 5 crowns again getting revenge in Glenn by Helen winning followed by me.

We got to bed around midnight- very late for us!

So glad you have caught up with Helen. It must be very strange not having Rab there! Those gardens are lovely. It is definitely Autumn now
