When we checked Gus’s fridge when getting ready to get back on the road we found it wasn’t very cold and the freezer had thawed out. We decided to go to a motorhome service garage to see if they could fit us in to have a look at it.
We said goodbye Oli and Angela until we see them in September on the canal boat in France.
We then found the garage but in the meantime realised the fridge worked on the van battery and probably electricity. Unfortunately the garage couldn’t fit us in so we decided to just keep going and find a campsite with electricity. We put our food in the cool bag with ice in the meantime but we did have to throw out some fish and chicken.
We stopped for lunch near Frankfurt Airport with aircraft flying over our heads.

We were also waiting for a traffic jam due to a collision on the motorway to clear a bit.
We got going and only sat in a short traffic jam.
We made it to a campsite 20 minutes north of Wurzburg. Unfortunately they had an event on that weekend and were fully booked. But did recommend an aire in the next village south – Thungersheim – with electricity thank goodness. So we found this beautiful village on the side of the Main river and surrounded by vines. The village itself looks medieval with very cute houses. The aire is next to the swimming pool – to be handy in the hot weather coming up.
We had a wander around the town first finding a wine cellar about to shut and quickly bought a bottle for later.

We then found an old pub with a vine- covered beer garden out the back only visited by locals – and us – by the looks of it.
It was all cash run out of a money box and the barmen sat down with the customers so very casual.

We enjoyed our very cheap but delicious wheat beers and then went on our way back to Gus.
We had a Belgian cheese sausage from an earlier butcher with a packet of green peas from the freezer for dinner . It was all good. This is the view for the night.

We then settled in to watch the movie ‘Beneath Hill 60’ – chosen since we were there a few days ago. We enjoyed it immensely and went to bed happy.
