We enjoyed the cool morning on Soderica Lake and went for a walk before it got too hot.
There had been a big flood here last year and a lot got washed away. This caused many businesses to close – as we could see from the many dilapidated buildings as we walked along. The camp site is struggling to get customers and is only opening its bar on big weekends.

There were many small houses – probably weekenders. There were a few retirees (like us) – swimming or fishing. Some were raking the weed out of the water as it’s really taking over. Panels along the way talked about the invasive plants and animals.

There were many strange structured looking very old – so perhaps this resort had been dying off before the flood. We feel like we are in an 80s ghost resort with no people.
We got some pictures at the lake’s big heart.

We came to the end of the path – a part EU funded initiative to try to reinvigorate the area.
There was what looked like an old outdoor movie area with a big screen and projection hut.

We got back to the van and it was now hot. We got our swimming togs on and went for a swim.
I took the opportunity to do some admin and write some blogs!!
We found out there is a public holiday tomorrow- the Assumption of Mary so it may be busier and all shops will be closed.
As a result the bar was opened in the afternoon by a new girl. Later on we gave them some custom. All furniture and umbrellas etc seem to have been provided by Somersby – owned by Carlsberg. So I had one – cider flavored with raspberry and lime. Glenn had the local beer – Pan.

After an early dinner of bbq cevapis – sausages without skin, a local delicacy – we went for a walk around the other side of the lake which is a bit more rugged with lots of fishing cabins. I wore my mossie protection outfit.

There was an old non operational bar and information about a project to get rid of invasive red eared turtles.

We got some good sunset shots.

We then headed back to our site before the mosquitos ate us alive.
