We enjoyed a good sleep after our big visit to Plitvice Lakes. We woke up to a rainy cloudy day. We had been lucky with the weather the day before.
We packed up and moved on to our next site near Zagreb – Camp Vugec Plac just outside the village of Samobor.
On the way we saw several storks with huge nests on the top of poles – usually street lights or power poles. I don’t know why there are 3 storks here on 1 nest ?????

We arrived at the quiet campsite and settled in. It was still a grey showery day so we hopped on our bikes and cycled into Samobor looking for a traditional Croatian Sunday lunch. The first restaurant choice I had was closed for holidays. However the second restaurant – hidden away up an alley from the main square – was open and was busy but had space. It was all locals apart from us – as far as we could see.
We had a lovely lunch of porcini mushroom soup – then I had venison with gnocchi and Glenn had beef and truffle pasta – with local truffles. All was very yummy and very filling.

We then wandered around the village which had lots of cafes in the elegant main square serving the local speciality Kremsnita cake – a big custard slice. People come from Zagreb to eat it. We couldn’t face it now and there no take away we could find, so we missed out.

The river running alongside with wooden bridges looked very Venetian.

There was an exhibition of old photos from 1851 by Charles Wheatstone of the Royal College of London .

After checking it all out we cycled back to the campsite. We had a small snack dinner as we were still full from lunch!
