Etang de Fouche

It was going to be a warm day so we decided to make the most of it and have an outdoors day with a swim.

We drove from Dole through the varied countryside. Farmers are always doing something amusing with their hay bales.

After around 2 hours we were at l the village of Arnay-le-Duc.

The site we were going to was just outside next to the small lake Etang de Fouche. It is a Huttopia site focused on nature – so very eco friendly but also with good facilities.

When we arrived the reception was closed for lunch until 2pm – so we had our van lunch.

We then went to check in and were told to find our own pitch. The site was mostly empty so we found one next to the lake – and not too close to a hut with young kids.

It was nice and warm so we went for a walk around the lake to check out the bird and fish life.

There were egrets, bee eaters, blue tits, greenfinches, a ball of catfish and others.

We returned to the campsite seeing kids swimming in the lake and large slides – no longer being used now that summer was over. It looked too chilly in there for us! We had a swim in the heated campsite pool instead which was very pleasant. We then enjoyed a cooling beer and dinner sitting outside – getting rarer now that we are in autumn.

It wasn’t long before we were back inside for the evening.
