Day in Ljubljana

The day was much brighter so the first thing we got done was our washing. We have a nice little garden area to ourselves so we made full use of it and hung it all out.

We then cycled into town again to check out what we had missed yesterday. First of all was the big market on every day. We bought some very fresh vegetables and fruit.

We checked out St Nicholas’s church incorporating Roman tombstones and carvings on the outside.

The doors had been specially made in 1991 to celebrate 1250 years of Christianity in Slovenia and the popes visit.

We were getting hungry and checked out the food trucks and cafes around. We decided on the very popular tiny Slovenian sausage shop that is an institution in Ljubljana and always queued out.

We had Slovenian stew containing sauerkraut, beans and potatoes with the Carniola sausage sliced up on top. It was really delicious. Glenn took one of his sneaky undercover photos.

Fully sustained we then checked out more of the old city.

The dragon bridge was impressive. It was a new way of building bridges from reinforced concrete in 1901. However the dragons and lamps were more interesting to me.

The back of the colonades on the other side of the river were impressive- designed by the famous architect Plecnik.

There were many interesting views throughout the town.

We then went to check out Tivoli Gardens nearby. It’s a huge grassy area. Glenn got some good nature photos.

We then cycled back home and chilled out in our garden. Glenn took some more sneaky photos.

We have enjoyed Ljubljana- it is a nice relaxed city without influencers that caused a lot of chaos yesterday.

We only saw the centre but there’s a whole lot more that we didn’t see.
