We got going early to deliver Gus for his service, MOT and habitation check. It was a rainy morning so we checked plans and Glenn organised the piles of stuff we had unloaded from Gus for the habitation check.

We were a bit worried about the weather as we were going out for dinner at the unique River Exe Cafe which is a pontoon in the middle of the Exe Estuary.

Luckily the sun came out and we all set out in our summer gear – with jackets – to Exmouth where we got the ferry.

We had a nice walk around Exmouth checking out the beach.

There were kids jumping off the wharf into the water which looked very chilly.

We then caught the ferry out to the cafe. It was about a 20 minute trip. There was a big sailing event going on and the ferry had to dodge the yachts.

The cafe is quite a large pontoon.

We got a good table with views on all sides.

The food arrived – a pint of prawns, squid rings with curry mayonnaise and a charcuterie platter – it was all delicious.

Grant and I had the red thai curry mussels – especially delicious.

We enjoyed the sunset as we ate.

It was now getting chilly as it was getting dark. It was then time to get the ferry back to Exmouth. We appreciated our large jackets on the way back.

Our excellent driver Anne got us all home safely – and had a well deserved glass of wine.

It was a wonderful evening – and highly recommended to anyone who happens to be in the area.
