Birds at Milicz

We left Wroclaw with Gus emptied and filled.

We drove 1 hour north to the town of Milicz which has a RAMSAR bird site next to it.

We stopped in the car park next to the lakes and got on our bikes. We found a couple of good birdwatching spots.

Glenn spotted many birds including:

Tundra Geese, herons, grey lag geese, snipe, northern lapwing, egrets and widgeon.

We then went for a longer bike ride across a paved causeway between 2 lakes.

We saw a few swans – 2 with cygnets.

We got back to the van and Glenn went back to the best birdwatching spot. He was lucky to see 3 cranes coming out of the reeds. It was now evening so they must have felt safe as they are very shy birds.

Glenn came back to the van and we had a dish made from Simply Cook spicy sauce mixtures with a recipe – so a quick and easy way to make an impressive dish – Vietnamese sticky pork – well actually chicken. Very delicious.

We slept very well in the total quiet – a relief not to have trains any more!
