I started the day at 7.30 with a cool walk around the Wellington basins – dug out by the woollen factory in 1803 for their water supply. They are now ponds in a nature reserve next to Wellington Park.
I did a loop walk around seeing swans with cygnets and a heron beside its little house in the middle of the lake.

Neil’s coffee truck was right there so I had to enjoy a nice coffee viewing the life on the lake.

I then headed home seeing some very summery landscape views.

The afternoon was a hot 31 degrees so we went for a game in Grant’s snooker room in the renovated garage – the coolest room in the house. It’s a perfectly constructed snooker room with a 3/4 table, black walls and snooker table lights. We enjoyed the concentration in the cool environment.

After Grant beating me and Glenn well and truly in 2 games we went inside to watch Wimbledon.

It was very exciting – Arthur Fery the great British hope beat Italian Cobelli in straight sets. Amazing that Fery is a wildcard and Corelli is the 9th seed.

We then went out to a nearby country pub for dinner at Culm Valley Inn. It’s a lovely spot in a tiny village on a river. Others thought so too as the carpark was chockablock – Grant managed to shoehorn the car in.
I tried the local cider and Glenn had Hawkstone – as seen in the pub on Clarkson’s Farm. The food is very good – by a master chef judge. It was burger night so the menu was not too exciting but the burgers were good. The home made coconut icecream following was very excellent.
We then went to check out the bridge and river next to the pub. The bridge looked very old – it’s medieval apparently.

There were people swimming and paddling in the waterholes – a big relief I’m sure in the heat.

We then headed home – all satisfied and ready for bed.
