We arrived in the UK in very warm temperatures over 30 degrees. England is having problems as there is very little aircon and lots of things are breaking down. There was no traffic on the road as schools were closed and people had worked from home if they could. Helen very kindly picked us up from Heathrow and had arrived there 2 hours early due to the lack of traffic.
We had a good catch up that evening and next day as it was really too hot to go anywhere. We did get our washing done and dried very quickly.
The next day we went to nearby Claydon House – a National Trust property. It has been owned by the Verney family since 1610.
Florence Nightingale sometimes lived here as her sister married Lord Verney.

There was a special art event on – some pieces were in the garden and some were in the house matched to the room where they were located.
They did a good job.
We started in the garden first while it was still cool.

We then moved into the house.

The piece in the Chinese room was well matched to the decor.
After checking it all out we dropped into the Black Boy Inn in Oving for an English real ale.

We then went back home and chilled out. We packed up again for our train trip tomorrow to Somerset.
