Off to Kea

We got up very early and were picked up with Paulette and Mike at 6.15am arriving at Lavrion Port around 7.30am.

We had to wait for our ferry in the shed – it was all very casual – like waiting for the bus.

Once it arrived, it was then a matter of queuing up to get on the ferry and putting our luggage on a rack beside the cars and trucks.

It was a short 1 hour journey on calm seas to the island of Kea. The cafe on the boat was surprised to be asked for so many flat white coffees – and the number of people from down under.

From the port at Kea we were told it was less than 1km to our accommodation Porto Kea Suites – so we walked. It was a hot walk along a rough, narrow busy road but we made it. I think we’ll be getting a taxi back though.

Our room wasn’t ready as yet as it was only 11am so we got on our costumes and had a welcome refreshing swim in the lovely pool and then enjoyed relaxing on the loungers.

We got into our room very soon afterwards – and after a very nice lunch in the restaurant we all felt a bit relaxed – and a bit sleepy – so off we went for an afternoon nap.

A bit recovered in the evening, we walked the short distance back along the road checking out the many restaurants. We went to one up a little side path that had great views. We had a delicious dinner with eggplant rolls, zucchini fritters, Greek salad and shrimp saganaki – all delicious. As was the chilled Greek red wine.

On the way home a ferry came in just as the sun was going down.

It had been a very good lazy day!
