We have a varied trip this year starting with 2 weeks in Greece celebrating Paulette’s 60th birthday followed by UK, Germany and 8 weeks in Poland, the main destination. I hope you can check in on us occasionally as we are going along.
We said goodbye to Sydney for 5 months.

We then stopped briefly at Singapore and Istanbul airports – the latter being a huge shopping mall!

Eventually we arrived in the Hotel Adrian in the Plaka area in Athens after around 28 hours travelling. We had managed to sleep on the plane so it wasn’t too bad.
After a quick shower we caught up with Jeff and Tsachi who had already toured Greece and had been in Athens already for a few days.
We had a walk around the busy narrow streets seeing the Parthenon not far above us. We chose one of the hundreds of Greek restaurant open to the street. There were the usual standard options of moussaka, Greek salad, stuffed tomatoes and capsicum and meat souvlaki.
We then went round the corner to the busy loukoumades store ( small fried doughnuts) and tried some with cinnamon and honey – very nice but addictive. We all enjoyed them.

We went to bed around 9pm and enjoyed a good sleep.
