On the boat at Corbigny

We got up to a cool morning – about 8 degrees. I have to put the motorhome heater on first thing when I get up these days. It’s no longer summer!

After breakfast we got into the big job of packing for a week on the canal boat – which included things like bikes, food, entertainment, chargers and lastly clothes. We took over the picnic table and ended up covering the floor in the motorhome in bags.

We drove the short 5 minutes into Corbigny to the restaurant where Angela and Oliver arrived soon afterwards. Their friends Stefan and Dunje also joined us as they happened to be motorhoming at the campsite near the aire last night.

We had a lovely lunch of fish, Glenn and Oli had beef tartare – and a few of us had the excellent crème brûlée.

Here’s the aftermath.

We did our supermarket shop and then drove 5 minutes to the boat area.

It was a big job to load up the boat and put everything away. We took a lot from the motorhome including the smokeless barbecue.

We then had our lesson on how to use everything and to drive the boat.

Oliver is the captain with many years experience so he is driving. He did well to get used to a new boat.

As we went up and down the canal our instructor’s little dog ran up and down on the canal path and wouldn’t let him out of his sight – very cute.

We then had a nice evening in the boat catching up on the latest news with Angela and Oliver over a cheese and wine dinner.

We went to our new beds in the cabins – a bit more spacious than the motorhome so luxurious to us!
