Titisee in the Black Forest

The weather was very showery at Lake Constance so we decided to move on.

We saw many interesting views as we went along the huge Lake Constance. There were lots of fruit trees and grape vines. We then were in the Black Forest – named by the Romans as the trees were so dense and dark.

We arrived at Titisee – a town on Lake Titisee. We were in the aire – in the huge train station carpark. We heard lots of hooting – and a steam train turned up. It does lots of round trips for tourists. We were to see it many times on our overnight stay here.

We started with a cycle around Lake Titisee. It was hard work uphill on one side – and downhill on the other. It was quite pretty and we could see why the Black Forest is so named.

We then ended up back at the town which was full of tourists and tourist shops. However we were a bit hungry and thirsty so we found a well reviewed quiet cafe with lots of cakes – as you do in the Black Forest.

Glenn very much enjoyed his Black Forest cake – and I enjoyed my Tiramisu one. The hot chocolates were excellent too!

We then had the strength to look at the shops.

We were overwhelmed by the cuckoo clocks – one was going off every minute. Unfortunately many come from China these days.

We checked out a few other shops with Black Forest ham, schnapps, magnets, hats etc etc and managed to resist.

We then went back to the van and had a quiet night with no steam trains interrupting our sleep.

Going cuckoo in real life! Not the feathered kind anyway. Looks like a big cycle to me?
