We had a rude interruption at 3am when another van arrived and squeezed in between us and the next door van. There was lots of space elsewhere but they wanted to hook up to electricity. There were lots of pacing around on the gravel for an hour until they got settled.
Glenn then got up especially early at 7am and made lots of noise getting the awning, chairs and table out. The morning light lit up the scenery.

We enjoyed our morning coffee in peace and quiet before the new arrivals woke up.

The new van had parents and 3 kids from Slovakia so I presume they had driven overnight with the kids asleep . But they need to improve their arrival technique.
The weather was definitely cooler which was great. We packed up a picnic and cycled down to Lake Bohinj. It was much quieter than yesterday- not many people around on the beach,
We found a good spot in the shade and had a swim in the clear turquoise water. We had brought goggles today so could see the small fish and the plants on the bottom.

We enjoyed some relaxing time reading books and having our picnic. It was getting windy so we decided to go and check out the boat cruise to the other end of the lake.
It was a chilled experience on the electric boat. The electric motor made it very quiet and is a requirement as we are in Triglavski National Park. The boat was around 70 years old and had been in the USA for the first 50 years.

We found out the valley was formed by a glacier – hence the deep ravine and flat bottomed valley.
There are 3 big mountains on the north side – one is called Sprinkler in Slovenian as it has lots of caves and holes and sprinkles water when it rains.

We got to the other end of the lake at Ukanc where the Lake Bohinj campsite is. It looked very tightly packed but nice right on the water with a small beach with canoes available to use.
We had earlier found out that this was the last cruise of the day – the later ones had been cancelled as there was a severe storm warning. So we stayed on the boat for the return journey.
Back to the other end there was a good view of the very old St John the Baptist church and the bridge next to it. There were still people swimming and on paddle boards even though it was getting windier and cooler.

We got on our bikes and cycled back to the campsite. We were a little worried about the wind blowing the awning around but it was very calm there. I decided to cook up 2 curries since it was nice and cool and Glenn went for a short bird walk.
It was getting cloudier and windier but with little rain. We then had a bit of thunder and lightning with rain but nothing too bad and it didn’t last long. We had a nice dinner and went to bed.
At around 2am we woke up to crashing and banging of thunder and lightning and thumping rain on the roof of the van. It was deafening as we sleep only a metre below the roof. It went for about half an hour before we could get back to sleep.
Again at 4am we woke up to constant thunder and lightning and pounding rain – then again at 6.15am – as you can see below.

Around 8am it had all stopped but clouds were down around the mountain tops.

That was a fun night !
